Spain international and new PSG player Ferran Torres has revealed that he regularly sees a psychotherapist.
As reported by İdman.Biz, Torres spoke about the importance of mental health in an interview with Vogue.
"For me, it is important to remain calm. I don't let the attention and pressure change me. Yes, I have become a world champion, but I have to remain the person I was before. I like being famous, but at the same time I try to stay grounded. I behave naturally and maintain close relationships with my friends and loved ones. I also have a psychotherapist whom I speak to at least once or twice a week. This is very important to me," Torres said.
The footballer revealed that his therapist helped him cope with depression following his move from Manchester City to Barcelona in 2021.
Torres also stressed that attitudes towards discussing mental health have changed in recent years.
"Some time ago, people were afraid to talk about these issues and felt uncomfortable doing so. I think people should talk about their feelings. This applies not only to sport, but to life as well. A person needs to be mentally strong just as much as physically strong," he added.
Torres has previously spoken publicly about the psychological pressure faced by professional footballers, highlighting the importance of seeking professional support and openly discussing mental well-being.
