Trabzonspor’s signing of Mohamed Salah has sparked widespread discussion in the football world. Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher criticised the Egyptian star’s decision to join the Turkish club, saying that the country’s top flight was not of a high enough standard for Salah.
Former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has responded strongly to Carragher’s comments.
İdman.Biz reports that Klopp believes outside criticism of Salah’s career decisions is of no importance to the Egyptian:
“I’m not interested at all in what people say about Mohamed Salah choosing the Turkish league instead of other leagues. Let me make this clear: he knows very well what he is doing as a footballer. A player of his calibre always makes the right decisions for himself.
“I’m sure that if the club genuinely wants to achieve something, he can change the situation and make the club even better every time.
“I always say this: every top-level player has people who don’t like them. So, no matter how you present yourself, the hate will still come.
“In my opinion, Turkey is not a low-level league. If he is happy with the decision he has made, there is no point in making such meaningless comments about it.”
