Representatives from 55 countries won medals at the Universiade held in Germany’s Rhine-Ruhr region.

Team Azerbaijan ranked 24th in the competition with two gold and two silver medals. The rhythmic gymnastics group team, Laman Alimuradova, Gullu Aghalarzada, Darya Sorokina, Kamila Aliyeva, and Yelyzaveta Luzan, won two events and came second in another. The other silver medal was earned by judoka Eljan Hajiyev (90 kg).
Japan topped the medal standings (34 gold, 21 silver, 24 bronze), followed by China (30-27-17), and the USA in third place (28-27-29).
