The opening ceremony of the 18th European Youth Summer Olympic Festival took place in Skopje, North Macedonia.
Azerbaijani athletes marched fourth in the parade during the opening ceremony, Idman.biz reports.
The country’s tricolor flag was carried by Zeyd Alasgarov, the European champion among youth in judo, and Humay Dadashova, a two-time winner of the Turkish Open in taekwondo.
The festival will be held from July 20 to 26 in Skopje and Kumanovo in North Macedonia, as well as Osijek in Croatia. More than 4,000 athletes from 50 European countries will compete in 15 sports.
