Azerbaijan’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Farid Gayibov, was a guest on the YouTube podcast Podkat.
As reported by Idman.Biz, during the podcast the minister spoke in detail about the mass development of sport in the country, the promotion of professional sport and Azerbaijan’s position on the international sports arena. He emphasized the key role of sport in building a healthy society and outlined the state policy being implemented in this field.
Farid Gayibov also touched on government support for professional sport, the importance of prestigious international competitions hosted by Azerbaijan, as well as the contribution of world-class events such as Formula 1 and UFC to the country’s development. The minister separately highlighted efforts to develop sports that are not traditionally popular in Azerbaijan, the construction of a new ice arena and measures aimed at promoting sport among girls.
During the podcast, the participants also discussed visits by members of the sports community to Karabakh, the prospects for developing sport in the liberated territories, and the positive impact of the successes of football club Qarabag on Azerbaijani sport.
