Farid Gayibov: “Azerbaijani athletes set a new record in 2025”

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov held a meeting with representatives of the media.

According to İdman.Biz, the meeting took place at the administrative building of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Employees of television channels and news portals took part in the event.

During the meeting, held in a roundtable format, Farid Gayibov noted that the current year had been a successful one for Azerbaijani sport.

“In 2025, we won a record number of medals. Azerbaijan hosted several major sporting events. For the first time in our country, UFC tournaments were held. This sparked great interest among both local fans and tourists,” the minister emphasized.

Gayibov also recalled that the 3rd CIS Games, held in 2025 in Ganja and six other cities of Azerbaijan, became a landmark event for national sport:

“As you know, the official opening and closing ceremonies of the Games took place in Ganja. As part of the 3rd CIS Games hosted by Azerbaijan, archery competitions were held in the city of Khankendi.”

The minister also emphasized that this year, an Olympic complex opened in Yevlakh and a city stadium in Ganja.

At the end of the meeting, Farid Gayibov answered questions from journalists and listened to their proposals.
