Azerbaijan will be represented by 20 athletes competing in six sports at the 25th Summer Deaflympic Games, which will be held in Tokyo, Japan.
According to Idman.biz, the announcement was made by the Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Deaf Sports Committee, Namig Novruzov, at a press conference.
He stated that participation in these Games marks a new stage in Azerbaijan’s Deaflympic movement: “It is both a joyful and proud moment that, for the first time, our team will include five female athletes. Three will compete in taekwondo, one in karate, and one in swimming. This reflects the active involvement, determination, and professionalism of our female athletes on the international stage. At the same time, it demonstrates the growing role of women in sports and the importance our country places on gender equality.”
It should be noted that the Summer Deaflympic Games will take place from November 15 to 26.
