3rd CIS Games: nine sports competitions to take place today

As part of the 3rd CIS Games, competitions in nine different sports will be held today.

Idman.biz reports that football matches for the 3rd–4th and 5th–6th places will take place at Gabala City Stadium. Belarus and Tajikistan will compete for the bronze medal, while Uzbekistan will face Kyrgyzstan in the other match.

In Gabala, individual, doubles, and mixed doubles badminton events for boys and girls will also continue.

At the Yevlakh Olympic Sports Complex, men’s boxing semifinals will be held in weight categories 46, 48, 50, 52, 54, 57, 60, 63, 66, 70, 75, 80, and +80 kg.

The Sheki Olympic Sports Complex will host finals in both individual and synchronized gymnastics for boys and girls.

In Ganja Sports Palace, fencing competitions will continue, along with volleyball matches. In Group A, Kyrgyzstan will face Russia, while Azerbaijan’s national team will meet Uzbekistan. Wrestling matches in the 40, 45, 46, 51, 53, 60, 61, 71, and 92 kg weight categories will also be held in Ganja.

At the “Kur” Olympic Training and Sports Center in Mingachevir, karate competitions for boys and girls in the 50, 55, 60, and 67 kg categories will take place.

Meanwhile, Khankendi City Stadium will host archery events.

It should be noted that the 3rd CIS Games will conclude on October 8. The Games have brought together 1,624 athletes and 2,337 delegates from 13 countries, including 340 athletes from Azerbaijan, 262 from Russia, 254 from Uzbekistan, 240 from Belarus, 147 from Kazakhstan, 144 from Tajikistan, 126 from Kyrgyzstan, 48 from Turkmenistan, 38 from Turkiye, 11 from Cuba, 6 from Kuwait, 4 from Pakistan, and 4 from Oman.
