UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski has revealed an unusual conversation with his wife ahead of his fight against Russia's Movsar Evloev at UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
As reported by İdman.Biz, the Australian fighter admitted that he had missed the opportunity to prepare a wedding anniversary gift for his wife after spending five weeks away from home during his training camp.
Instead, Volkanovski promised to make up for it by finishing his fight as quickly as possible.
"A few days before the fight, it was our wedding anniversary. But I didn't have a present because I'd been away for five weeks. I told her, 'I'll try to make it quick, and that will be your present.' And she said, 'Make it quick, and that will be your present,'" Volkanovski told CODE Sports.
"And yeah, we finished it nicely and quickly. She didn't have to worry too much. So I think it was good for everyone," the Australian added.
Volkanovski's comments came after his victory over Evloev at UFC 333, where he successfully defended his featherweight title.
