Las Vegas hosted the final numbered event of the year - UFC 323 - where the main event featured a bantamweight title fight between Merab Dvalishvili and Petr Yan, a long-awaited rematch of their first meeting in the spring of 2023, reports Idman.Biz.
The bout went the full five rounds and ended with a unanimous decision victory for Petr Yan - 49-46, 49-46, 48-47. The Russian fighter delivered a composed performance, effectively neutralized his opponent’s strengths, and regained the UFC championship belt.
For Yan, this win marked the 20th of his professional career, along with five losses. The 32-year-old extended his winning streak to four fights. Merab Dvalishvili, 34, suffered his first defeat after a run of 14 consecutive victories and now holds a record of 20-4.
The rematch became one of the most anticipated fights of the year and returned Yan to the status of UFC bantamweight world champion.
