The individual competitions at the Judo World Championships, held in Budapest, Hungary, have concluded.
The Azerbaijani national team finished the championships with 3 medals, Idman.biz reports.
Zelim Tckaev (81 kg), Eljan Hajiyev (90 kg), and Zelym Kotsoiev (100 kg) each won bronze medals. With these results, the Azerbaijani team placed 14th in the overall standings.
The championship was dominated by Japanese athletes. Competitors from the Japan claimed 6 gold, 4 silver, and 4 bronze medals. Judokas competing under the flag of the International Judo Federation (IJF) secured 3 golds and 2 bronzes. Italy placed third in the medal table with 2 gold medals.
The Azerbaijani judokas will compete tomorrow in the mixed team event of the World Championships.
