The European Judo Championships for veterans has officially kicked off today in Riga, Latvia.
Around 900 athletes are competing in the tournament, including several judokas from Azerbaijan, Idman.biz reports.
Ahead of the event, the European Judo Union (EJU) highlighted the participation of renowned Azerbaijani veteran judoka Farhad Rajabli, who competes in the -90 kg category. A 10-time European and 12-time World Champion among veterans, Rajabli is once again vying for another prestigious title.
The EJU praised the seasoned athlete with a notable quote:
“Farhad Rajabli always carries the Azerbaijani flag with pride among his teammates.”
