“I’ll return to training as soon as I recover.”
That’s what Azerbaijani judoka Murad Fatiyev told Idman.biz.
He spoke about missing the upcoming World Championship in Budapest, Hungary, due to injury. The national team member, who competes in the 90 kg weight class, shared that he’s currently feeling well:
“Everything is fine. I injured my neck. I think I’ll recover in about a month. Right now, I’m not in pain.”
Fatiyev admitted he’s disappointed:
“Of course, I’m upset about missing the championship. But the Islamic Solidarity Games are ahead. I’ll prepare for that. Next year, the World Championship will be held in Baku. I want to win both events.”
Fatiyev sustained his injury during the bronze medal match at the European Championship in Podgorica, Montenegro. Despite the injury, he won the bout.
