The schedule for the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships, to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from August 20 to 24, has been announced.
The first two days, August 20 and 21, will feature the individual qualification events, Idman.biz reports.
This stage will determine the 18 finalists in the all-around category as well as the top 8 gymnasts in each apparatus final.
August 22, the third day of competition, will feature the award ceremony for the individual all-around.
On August 23, the fourth day, group teams will take to the floor for the first time. Each group will perform two routines: one with five ribbons and another with three balls and two hoops. This competition will serve not only as a qualification for two apparatus finals, but also as an opportunity to win medals in the group all-around and team rankings.
On the final day of the competition, August 24, the apparatus finals will take place.
In total, nine sets of medals will be contested at the championships.
Azerbaijan will be represented at the season's most important event by one individual gymnast and a group team.
Kamilla Seyidzade will compete in the individual events, while Laman Alimuradova, Darya Sorokina, Yelyzaveta Luzan, Gullu Aghalarzada, Kamilla Aliyeva, and Sofiya Mammadova will represent the country in the group competition.
