Nikita Simonov has successfully advanced to the finals of the European Artistic Gymnastics Championship, currently taking place in Leipzig, Germany.
The Azerbaijani national team gymnast competed in his specialty — the rings — delivering a strong performance that earned him 14.033 points from the judges, Idman.biz reports.
His score placed him seventh in the qualification round, securing a spot in the final.
The rings final is scheduled to be held on May 30.
Simonov claimed silver at last year’s edition of the European Championship, further raising hopes for another podium finish this year.
