Rooney warns this season could be “now or never” for Arteta at Arsenal

Wayne Rooney has suggested this season could be “now or never” for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, with expectations mounting for him to win silverware.

Idman.biz, citing BBC, reports that Arsenal suffered a 1-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday, with Dominik Szoboszlai scoring a spectacular free-kick. Speaking on The Wayne Rooney Show, Rooney said while Arsenal as a club may not be at a make-or-break stage, the pressure is on Arteta after significant spending and new signings.

Rooney believes Liverpool remain the Premier League favourites, praising their experience in winning the league in recent seasons. He also criticized Arsenal for lacking bravery at Anfield, saying the Gunners should have taken more risks rather than playing not to lose.

Reflecting on his own career, the former England captain admitted he always “hated” playing at Anfield for Manchester United due to the emotional pressure but recalled the thrill of victories against Liverpool. He also shared insights from Sir Alex Ferguson, who often refrained from playing him at Anfield or Goodison Park knowing the emotional challenge.

Rooney’s podcast airs twice weekly on BBC Sounds, YouTube, and iPlayer, offering fans a mix of analysis and personal anecdotes.
