Isaac Amoah: “We trust ourselves and our preparation”

Interview with Gabala’s Ghanaian defender Isaac Amoah for Futbolinfo.az.

– In the 2nd round of the Misli Premier League against Zira, you started well and even opened the scoring, but ultimately left the field without points (1:2). Why did you lose the advantage and face defeat despite leading and controlling the match?
– We started strong against Zira and created good momentum, but in football, small details can change the outcome of a game. We lost focus at key moments, and the opponent took advantage. It’s important for us to learn from these situations and protect our lead better next time.

– It seems the path to defeat began after Eshqin Ahmadov’s individual mistake that led to a goal. Do you agree? After the game, did teammates criticize him or support him?
– I think it’s not about a single player’s mistake. In football, we win together and lose together. Such moments can happen to any player. Naturally, as a team, we showed him our support. The key is how the team reacts in these situations and stays united. We fully trust each other.

– After the first two rounds, Gabala has 1 point. Are you satisfied with this result?
– Of course not, because our goal is higher. But it’s still the start of the season. We know we can play better and are working every day to turn our games into results.

– You have created many scoring opportunities in both matches. What is missing in your team to secure victories?
– Yes, creating chances is positive. But what’s missing is the final touch, being more composed in front of goal and making the right decisions at crucial moments. We also need to be more compact in defense. If we improve these aspects, results will come.

– In the next round, you will be visiting Araz-Nakhchivan. How do you assess your chances?
– We respect Araz-Nakhchivan, they are a tough opponent, especially at home. But we trust ourselves and our preparation. If we stay focused and play to our strengths, I believe we can come away with a positive result.
