Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz from Juventus on an initial season-long loan, with a conditional obligation to turn the move permanent next summer.
Idman.biz, citing Reuters, reports that the 27-year-old, an Olympic gold medalist with Brazil in Tokyo, joined Juventus last season from Aston Villa for around €50 million ($57.94 million) on a five-year deal but made only 27 appearances for the Italian side.
Douglas Luiz, who began his career at Vasco da Gama in Brazil, moved to Manchester City in 2017 but never played for the club, spending two seasons on loan at Girona before joining Villa in 2019. Speaking after the move, Luiz said he was delighted to join Forest, citing the club’s ambition as a key factor in his decision.
Forest, who finished seventh in the Premier League last season, will face Crystal Palace on Sunday as Luiz looks to make an immediate impact in England. This signing strengthens Forest’s midfield options and reflects the club’s intent to compete at the top of the Premier League.
The Brazilian midfielder is expected to bring creativity, energy, and international experience to Steve Cooper’s squad as they aim for another strong campaign in the top flight.
