Azerbaijan’s FIFA referee Elchin Masiyev expressed great joy after being appointed for the UEFA Super Cup match.
In an interview with Report news agency, Masiyev spoke about his role as the fourth official in the UEFA Super Cup clash between France’s PSG and England’s Tottenham, Idman.biz reports.
The official said the appointment was unexpected: “I was very happy when I received the Super Cup assignment. It is a matter of pride for an Azerbaijani referee to be involved in a final match after Tofiq Bahramov. Being part of such a well-organized, high-level match was a unique experience. I believe this will contribute to my future development and also serve as a good motivation for our young referees.”
The match ended 2-2 in regular time, with PSG claiming the trophy by winning the penalty shootout.
