You made your official debut for Gabala in the Premier League’s first-round match against Karvan-Yevlakh. How do you evaluate your debut? Did everything go as you hoped?
Although I had only trained with the team four times, I’m very satisfied with my debut. I understood what the head coach wanted and tried to do my best. Naturally, as the weeks go by, everything will improve even more.
How do you explain not winning the match against Karvan-Yevlakh?
We could even have won that game by a significant goal difference because we had many scoring opportunities. But football is like that. In any case, we earned a point, and we’ll continue working.
It was your first match in the Premier League. How was the overall atmosphere of the Azerbaijani championship?
The match had a good atmosphere. We hope to win in the upcoming games so our fans continue to support us.
Gabala will face Zira in the next round. Are you familiar with them?
Yes, I know about Zira. I watched their match against Hajduk. I have some understanding of their playing style. They have good players, but so do we. We are playing at home and will go onto the field to win.
Interesting, how did your transfer to Gabala happen? Why didn’t you stay at Varazdin? Do you think the Croatian top league is not better than the Azerbaijani Premier League?
From the day I moved to Varazdin, it was difficult for me to adapt. I didn’t feel happy there and wasn’t satisfied with my own performance. When the opportunity to join Gabala arose, I fought to make it happen. It wasn’t easy, but in the end, I succeeded and I’m here. Regarding the level, I need to see more games here. After all, I’ve only been here for a week, so it’s too early to say.
You are a product of Real Madrid’s academy. Did you ever have a chance to reach the first team?
No. But I played 10 years in Real’s academy and learned a lot there.
What is your main goal at Gabala?
My main goal is to give everything for Gabala’s success. I will remain professional and work to help my team finish as high as possible in the standings. I hope everything goes well.
