A picture has emerged suggesting that Azerbaijan is not really a football-committed country and that such games are unfamiliar to us. In reality, however, this land has always produced talented and skilled players.
Particularly from the regions, talented children have constantly emerged. Although not often mentioned in general discussions, one such region is Mingachevir.
Speaking to Sportal.az, expert Rovshan Babayev addressed this issue. He stated that although other regions are often highlighted, Mingachevir should also be emphasized: “I don’t say this lightly, believe me, if you knock on any door in Mingachevir, a talented child will appear.
The country’s best academy, Gabala, in recent years has recruited most of its children from Mingachevir. Many children from Mingachevir are also in other academies. However, since the city did not have a good academy until now, the children dispersed to other clubs.
Now the situation is changing. The new management of the Mingachevir club intends to implement major projects. If a strong academy is established there, many talents will emerge, I am certain of it.”
