“A meeting was held with the management where we discussed the recently concluded season and shared our thoughts on the upcoming football year,” said Elmar Bakhshiyev, head coach of Araz-Nakhchivan, in a statement to the club’s press service after renewing his contract.
Idman.biz reports that the coach confirmed that he has signed a new one-year deal with the club:
“The negotiations went smoothly, and I decided to continue my work with the Araz-Nakhchivan project. We can build a stronger team and improve our results. Despite all the challenges, the team achieved a historic milestone by finishing among the medalists for the first time and qualifying for European competitions. We agreed to carry this success forward together. Since the terms were satisfactory, I signed a new contract.”
Bakhshiyev also touched on his plans for the new season:
“Undoubtedly, a tougher and more demanding football year awaits us. Our plans are already in place. The team will go through a two-stage training camp. We’ll start preparations in Baku, and by then we aim to complete the squad. There will be changes in the lineup—some players will leave, and new ones will join. We will share more details in due course. Our search has already begun. Later, we’ll head to Turkey for friendly matches to address any weaknesses. The names of our sparring opponents will be announced in the coming days.”
