Yesterday, a Turkish C-130 military transport plane en route from Azerbaijan to Turkiye crashed in Georgian territory. All 20 military personnel on board, including the crew, were killed. The tragedy has been met with deep sorrow in both Turkiye and Azerbaijan.
According to Idman.Biz, the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) and many of the country’s leading clubs sent condolence letters to the families of the fallen soldiers, their loved ones, and the Turkish Armed Forces.
The TFF statement read:
“We offer our condolences and prayers for mercy from Allah for our heroic soldiers who were martyred when the transport plane crashed near the Georgia-Azerbaijan border while flying from Azerbaijan to Turkiye. We extend our sympathies to their grieving families, loved ones, the Turkish Armed Forces, and our nation.”
“Besiktas” said:
“We pray for mercy from Allah for our heroic soldiers who were martyred when the military transport plane taking off from Azerbaijan to our country crashed near the Georgia-Azerbaijan border. We extend our condolences to their families, loved ones, and our nation.”
“Fenerbahce” expressed deep sorrow:
“We learned with great sadness that our C-130 military plane crashed at the Georgia–Azerbaijan border while traveling from Azerbaijan to Turkiye. We pray for mercy for our martyred soldiers and patience for their families and the nation.”
“Galatasaray” shared:
“We received with profound sorrow the news that our C-130 military transport plane crashed near the Georgia-Azerbaijan border while flying from Azerbaijan. We pray for mercy for our martyrs and extend condolences to their grieving families and our nation.”
“Trabzonspor” stated:
“We pray for mercy for our heroic soldiers martyred when the military transport plane flying from Azerbaijan to Turkiye crashed in Georgia. Our condolences go to their grieving families and our beloved Turkish nation.”
The Turkish football family has once again shown solidarity in the face of this tragedy, honoring the memory of the fallen soldiers with deep respect.
