More than 200 chess players from seven countries will compete in the Sheki Open international chess festival to be held in Sheki.
Alongside local players, representatives from India, Russia, Uzbekistan, Turkiye, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine will also participate in the tournament, Idman.biz reports.
A total of 208 players have registered for the festival. Of these, 42 will compete in Tournament A, while 162 will take part in Tournament B.
The top-rated player in Tournament A is Azerbaijani grandmaster Eltaj Safarli. Fellow Azerbaijani Ahmad Ahmadzada ranks second on the list, while Ukrainian Vitaliy Bernadskiy is in third place.
The Sheki Open, scheduled for June 18–25, is one of the stages of the Chess Tour Azerbaijan series initiated by the Azerbaijan Chess Federation.
