FIDE has confirmed the participation of 60 teams in the World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship, which will be held in London from June 10 to 16.
Azerbaijani grandmaster Rauf Mammadov will compete as a member of Team “Freedom”, Idman.biz reports.
He will be joined by renowned players such as Viswanathan Anand (India), Le Quang Liem (Vietnam), Anna Muzychuk (Ukraine), among others.
WR Chess is considered the rating favorite for the tournament. Last year, the team was led by Magnus Carlsen.
Other chess stars such as Alireza Firouzja and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (both from France), Hikaru Nakamura and Wesley So (both from the USA), Jan-Krzysztof Duda (Poland), Hou Yifan (China), and Alexandra Kosteniuk (Switzerland) will also take part in the tournament.
