The 11th Vugar Gashimov Memorial begins today in Khankendi.
As reported by İdman.Biz, the tournament dedicated to the memory of the outstanding Azerbaijani grandmaster is held with the support of the Vugar Gashimov Foundation, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the Azerbaijan Chess Federation. Six players will compete in rapid and blitz formats.
The participants include Ian Nepomniachtchi (FIDE), Amin Tabatabaei (Iran), Vladimir Fedoseev (Slovenia), Nodirbek Yakubboev (Uzbekistan), as well as Azerbaijani grandmasters Rauf Mamedov and Aydin Suleymanli. They will play a double round-robin event.
The tournament will conclude on December 11.
