Giorgi Meshvildishvili: “My opponents at the tournament in Warsaw were strong”

Azerbaijani freestyle wrestler Giorgi Meshvildishvili (125 kg) faced tough opponents at the international tournament held in Warsaw, dedicated to the memory of Poland’s legendary wrestlers.

The national team member, who won the gold medal at the event, told Report news agency that the competition was well organized, Idman.biz reports.

"First of all, I am satisfied with my performance. The opponents were strong as well," said the Paris 2024 Olympic bronze medalist.

The 30-year-old athlete also spoke about his upcoming goals: "The World Championship will be held in September in Zagreb, Croatia. I will prepare for that tournament. I want to win a gold medal there too."

Meshvildishvili missed the ranking tournament in Hungary last month due to injury. The World Championship is scheduled for September 13–21.
