Azerbaijani wrestler Aslan Abakarov has been handed a 36-month suspension by the Azerbaijan National Anti-Doping Agency (AMADA).
AMADA's press service confirmed that the athlete tested positive for a prohibited substance or its metabolites/markers. It was also determined that Abakarov used or attempted to use a banned substance or method, Idman.biz reports.
The disqualification period officially began on February 7, 2025, and will end on February 7, 2028.
Notably, the 21-year-old wrestler won a bronze medal in the 97 kg weight category at the 2024 Azerbaijani National Championship held in December.
