Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestler Nijat Yeylagaliyev (80 kg), who won bronze at the European Championship held in Skopje, North Macedonia, has reflected on his performance.
In an interview with Report, Yeylagaliyev admitted to making some mistakes during the competition, Idman.biz reports.
He remains hopeful for a stronger showing at the upcoming World Championship:
“It was a very tough tournament. Honestly, I could have reached the final and even become champion. But I lost due to my own mistake. I hope to achieve a better result at the World Championship.”
Azerbaijan’s U17 Greco-Roman wrestlers finished the European Championship with 2 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals. Abdurrahman Huseynli (45 kg) and Rihad Ibrahimli (110 kg) became European champions. Ali Nazarov (60 kg) claimed silver, while Gurban Majnunov (48 kg) and Nijat Yeylagaliyev (80 kg) took bronze.
The national team finished third in the team rankings with 116 points.
