That’s what Rihad Ibrahimli (110 kg), gold medalist at the U-17 European Wrestling Championship, told Idman.biz.
He shared his thoughts on his victory at the tournament held in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia, stating that he dedicated his championship to his mother:
“Becoming European champion is a great joy. This is my first gold medal in my first continental championship. Up next is the World Championship, and I’m already preparing for it. My goal there is also to win gold and raise our flag. We won’t take a break from training, and we believe in more victories ahead. I dedicate this European title to my mother.”
Ibrahimli ended a 10-year gold medal drought in the heavyweight category. He defeated Ukraine’s Anatolii Novachenko in the semifinals and Bulgaria’s Denis Lazarov in the final.
