"In the first tournament of the year, everything was at a high level and there were strong competitors."
Azerbaijan national wrestler Alyona Kolesnik told Idman.biz.
The 59 kg wrestler evaluated his performance at the Zagreb Open, the first competition of the year held in Croatia. She said that the most difficult match was for the 3rd place: "I wrestled not with my opponent, but with the judges. Because the judges wrote the tricks and moves I did on my opponent's assets. It was very difficult. I was losing 0:8. Later, I started to recover the points I lost and won."
She said that she will try to eliminate her mistakes in Croatia before the European Championship in Budapest: "Of course, there will be a license tournament after the European Championship. I want to compete in the 57 kg weight category in this competition to be held in Turkiye. I think everything will happen fairly here."
Kolesnik said that her main goal is to qualify for the Paris-2024 Summer Olympic Games: "I express my gratitude to my personal trainer. Thanks to him, I became a better wrestler and increased my self-confidence."
It should be noted that Alyona met Hungarian Nicolet Shaboy for the bronze medal and won with a score of 11:8.
