Real Madrid defender Raul Asencio has expressed his support for teammate Kylian Mbappe in the race for the 2026 Ballon d'Or.
As reported by İdman.Biz, citing Spanish newspaper AS, Asencio believes the French forward deserves to receive the prestigious individual award ahead of the other nominees.
"It would be fair. I see him every day, and for me, he is the best player among all the nominees. If we are talking purely about football, Kylian is the best. He is the top scorer in all competitions. This is his individual award," Asencio said.
The Spanish defender's comments underline the high regard in which Mbappe is held by his teammates at Real Madrid.
The French international, who joined the Spanish giants from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2024, has established himself as one of the team's key attacking players.
Mbappe has long been considered one of the leading figures in world football, with his goalscoring ability and performances at both club and international level keeping him among the contenders for major individual honors.
The 2026 Ballon d'Or ceremony is scheduled to take place on October 26 in London, where the winner of the prestigious award will be announced.
