Former France midfielder Jerome Rothen has sided with Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus in his reported dispute with Cristiano Ronaldo.
As reported by İdman.Biz, citing RMC Sport, Rothen strongly criticized the 41-year-old forward's behavior, suggesting that his actions are increasingly damaging the legacy he has built throughout his remarkable career.
"It's becoming simply pathetic... It couldn't get any worse. When he retires, we will remember the Ronaldo phenomenon, but right now his image is suffering badly," Rothen said.
The former France international went further, describing Ronaldo's reaction as an unnecessary display of frustration.
"In my opinion, it's just a tantrum. If I were Jorge Jesus, I would never call him up to the national team again," he added.
The controversy intensified on October 6, when Ronaldo publicly addressed his disagreement with Jesus, accusing the coach of breaking his word on two separate occasions.
Ronaldo, a five-time Ballon d'Or winner and one of the most decorated players in football history, continues to attract widespread attention as he approaches the final stages of his professional career.
However, the latest dispute has sparked criticism from former players, with Rothen questioning whether Ronaldo's recent conduct is overshadowing his extraordinary achievements on the pitch.
