Javier Milei calls Messi 'the greatest player of all time' after Argentina farewell

Argentina President Javier Milei has paid tribute to Lionel Messi following the forward's farewell match for the national team.

As reported by İdman.Biz, Milei published several messages on social media dedicated to the legendary Argentine footballer.

"Thank you very much, Lionel Messi! By far the greatest player of all time. Come on, Argentina!" Milei wrote.

The Argentine president also shared footage from a television appearance in 2018, when he defended Messi amid widespread criticism of the forward in the local media.

"Messi is incredible. This was recorded in 2018, when the entire Argentine press was constantly treating him badly. They never apologized to him. Bye!" Milei added.

Messi played his final match for Argentina on October 6, helping the Albiceleste defeat Benin 3-0 at the Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires. The 39-year-old scored from the penalty spot and provided two assists in his farewell appearance.

Messi ended his international career after 208 appearances and 126 goals for Argentina. He captained the national team to the 2022 FIFA World Cup title, two Copa America trophies and the Finalissima.
