Portuguese Football Federation president Pedro Proença has travelled to Copenhagen in an attempt to resolve a reported dispute between Cristiano Ronaldo and national team head coach Jose Jesus.
As reported by İdman.Biz, citing A Bola, Proença has already met Ronaldo and Jesus in an effort to settle the disagreement between the two sides.
According to the report, Jesus initially decided not to include the 41-year-old Ronaldo in the starting line-up for Portugal's away UEFA Nations League match against Norway. The head coach reportedly planned to give the forward around 30 minutes in the second half, but Ronaldo ultimately did not take to the pitch at all.
It was the first time in 18 years that Ronaldo had failed to appear in an official Portugal match while being available for selection.
After the final whistle, the Portuguese star reportedly headed straight to the dressing room without acknowledging the supporters.
Ronaldo also missed Portugal's full team training session on September 29, instead working individually in the gym.
Portugal will face Denmark in the UEFA Nations League group stage on October 1.
After two rounds, the Portuguese national team lead Group A4 with six points, holding a three-point advantage over both Denmark and Norway.
