Inter Miami's Argentine superstar Lionel Messi has reportedly purchased another home in the United States, expanding his real estate holdings in South Florida.
As reported by İdman.Biz, Messi paid $8 million for a property in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, giving him ownership of two adjacent homes.
According to Bloomberg and The Real Deal, a limited liability company linked to Messi purchased the house next to the mansion he already owns. The company is registered to Alfonso Nebot Armisen, Messi's longtime financial manager.
The same entity owns the neighbouring villa that Messi purchased for approximately $10.8 million in 2023, shortly after joining Inter Miami.
The newly acquired five-bedroom house is located northwest of Messi's current residence and sits along a canal. Its previous owner reportedly bought the property for $2.7 million in 2013.
Buying neighbouring properties is not unusual among wealthy homeowners seeking to expand their estates and increase privacy. In South Florida, billionaires Ken Griffin and Jeff Bezos have also acquired adjacent properties for similar purposes.
Messi's two neighbouring properties now form a larger waterfront estate in the exclusive Bay Colony community.
The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner and his wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, bought their first property there in September 2023 for around $10.75-10.8 million. The approximately 975-square-metre residence has around 52 metres of waterfront along the canal.
The property includes several bedrooms, a swimming pool, a three-car garage and two boat docks. The modern residence also features an Italian-style kitchen, gym, spa area, entertainment room and a spacious primary suite.
