Türkiye head coach Vincenzo Montella has praised his players despite their 1-0 defeat to France in the opening round of the UEFA Nations League.
As reported by İdman.Biz, Türkiye suffered a narrow home loss after Kylian Mbappe scored the only goal of the match in the 54th minute.
Montella was pleased with his team's performance and highlighted their organisation and fighting spirit.
"We showed character and played as a well-organised team. It doesn't matter who we face, we always try to play our football.
"We fought very well from start to finish and definitely deserved more than a defeat. This match showed that we are capable of competing on equal terms with any opponent," Montella was quoted as saying by UEFA's press service.
The result left Türkiye without points after the opening round of the Nations League campaign, while France began the tournament with a victory.
