Lionel Messi's mother, Celia Cuccittini, has shared her emotions following her son's decision to retire from international football.
As reported by İdman.Biz, Messi announced his farewell to the Argentina national team after 21 years. Following his decision, his mother sent an emotional message to journalist Adrian Pallares.
"I'm still crying. Even though we knew about it beforehand, the whole family is sad. But the most important thing is that he is happy," Cuccittini said.
Messi's mother added that the loss of her husband in August had made this period even more difficult for the family.
She recalled that her husband would often say about Leo: "What am I going to do when he doesn't play anymore?"
In his farewell letter, Messi thanked his family, coaches, teammates and everyone he worked with during his long career with the Argentina national team.
The legendary forward stressed that he was leaving the national team with a sense of pride and peace.
