Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso has commented on his team's 3-2 away victory over Fulham in the opening round of the English Premier League.
As reported by İdman.Biz, the Spanish specialist described the match as intense and highlighted his players' ability to cope with difficult moments.
"It was a really intense game. We know how much an away win means. But we handled it well - we were patient, we fought and did everything that was required of us at different moments, so the feeling is very good now.
"The early goal helped us gain confidence. We had chances to score a second before they equalised, but we were quite consistent and felt comfortable even without the ball. We were dangerous: the three forwards combined well and created chances.
"It's a good start for us," Alonso told Sky Sports.
The match against Fulham was Alonso's first official game in charge of Chelsea. The London club began its new Premier League campaign with three points.
