Johor Darul Ta'zim set world record with 109-game unbeaten run

Malaysian football club Johor Darul Ta'zim have set a world record for the longest unbeaten run in a domestic league, Reuters reports.

As reported by İdman.Biz, Johor opened the new season with a convincing 3-0 victory over Kuching, extending their unbeaten league run to 109 matches.

The Malaysian champions surpassed the previous record held by Ivory Coast's ASEC Mimosas, who went 108 consecutive league matches without defeat between 1989 and 1994.

Johor had equalled ASEC's record in the final match of last season before moving clear with their victory over Kuching in the opening round of the new campaign.

The club have won the Malaysian league in each of the past four seasons and have not suffered a defeat in the domestic championship since April 2021.

The remarkable run further underlines Johor Darul Ta'zim's dominance of Malaysian football in recent years.
