Indiana Vassilev and Neil Pierre scored for Philadelphia, while Daniel Pinter and Argentine star Lionel Messi found the net for Inter Miami. Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez also contributed with an assist.
The goal was Messi's first for Inter Miami since the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the death of his father, Jorge Messi.
The result brought Philadelphia Union's four-match winning streak to an end. Inter Miami, meanwhile, extended their winless run in MLS to three games. They had previously drawn with Columbus Crew before suffering a defeat against Nashville.
In the next round of MLS fixtures, Inter Miami will face Toronto, while Philadelphia Union will take on Austin. Both matches are scheduled for August 23.
