Munich bids to host 2028 Champions League final

Munich City Council has approved the city's bid to host the 2028 UEFA Champions League final at the Allianz Arena.

As reported by İdman.Biz, Munich is seeking to bring European club football's showpiece match back to the city after successfully hosting the Champions League final in 2025.

"In 2025, Munich once again proved that it is capable of hosting the biggest international sporting events at the highest level. Staging tournaments of this kind again would be a wonderful opportunity to present Munich to the world as a welcoming, sports-loving and highly efficient host city," Mayor Dominik Krause said.

The Allianz Arena is one of Germany's leading football venues and has previously staged major UEFA matches, including Champions League finals and fixtures at European Championships.

The host city for the 2027/28 Champions League final will be selected by the UEFA Executive Committee in mid-September 2026.

If Munich's bid is successful, the Bavarian capital will once again become the centre of European club football three years after hosting the 2025 final.
