Cagliari forward hospitalised in intensive care after water incident

Cagliari forward Yael Trepy has been hospitalised and placed in intensive care following an incident in the water.

Idman.Biz reports that the accident occurred at a villa in Sardinia, where the 20-year-old was spending his day off.

Cagliari players had been given two days off following their 1-0 victory over Arezzo in the Coppa Italia. Trepy played 53 minutes of that match before being substituted.

The footballer was airlifted to the Santissima Annunziata Civil Hospital in Sassari, where he remains in intensive care.

Cagliari have issued an official statement regarding the player's condition.

"Yael Trepy is currently hospitalised at the Santissima Annunziata Civil Hospital in Sassari, where he is in the intensive care unit. The club is in constant contact with the hospital and the player's family and is closely monitoring his condition.

"At this time, everyone at Cagliari is with Yael and his family. The club also asks for absolute respect for their privacy and will provide further updates as they become available," the statement said.

Trepy was born in France and began his football development at the academy of Paris-based club US Creteil-Lusitanos. Cagliari signed the young forward in 2022.

He made his senior breakthrough last season, scoring one goal in eight Serie A appearances.
