Former Manchester United and Aston Villa goalkeeper Jimmy Rimmer has died at the age of 78.
According to İdman.Biz, the football veteran came through the Manchester United academy and was part of the team that won the European Cup in 1968.
In 1977, Rimmer joined Aston Villa, where he spent six seasons. He made 229 appearances for the Birmingham club in the English top flight and won the European Cup for a second time in the 1981/82 season.
Rimmer played in every Aston Villa match during that European Cup campaign. In the final against Bayern Munich, he started the game but suffered an injury early on and was substituted. Aston Villa went on to beat the German side 1-0 and lift the trophy.
Rimmer also played for Arsenal and Swansea, while making one appearance for the England national team.
