Everton striker accused of betting on football matches

The Football Association has launched an investigation into Everton striker Martin Sherif over alleged involvement in football betting.

As reported by İdman.Biz, the 20-year-old is alleged to have placed a total of 61 bets on football matches between 20 November 2024 and 12 February 2026.

Professional footballers in England are prohibited from betting on any football matches.

Sherif has reportedly been given until 17 August to respond to the charges brought by the Football Association.

Martin Sherif is an Everton academy graduate. However, he has yet to make an official first-team appearance for the club. Last season, the footballer spent loan spells at Rotherham United and Port Vale.

Sherif's current contract with the club has one year remaining.
