Nottingham Forest owner sues Crystal Palace over alleged defamation

Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has filed a defamation lawsuit against Crystal Palace.

As reported by İdman.Biz, citing The Sun, the legal action relates to a banner displayed by Crystal Palace supporters during a match between the two clubs at Selhurst Park last season.

The banner depicted Marinakis holding a gun to the head of Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White. It also contained allegations linking the businessman to blackmail, match-fixing, drug trafficking and corruption.

Marinakis has consistently denied any wrongdoing in connection with such allegations.

According to the source, the businessman’s lawyers have filed a defamation claim in court. CPFC Limited, the company that operates Crystal Palace, has been named as the defendant.

The Football Association (FA) previously fined Crystal Palace £50,000 over the banner.
