1988 European champion John van ’t Schip is set to become the new head coach of the Kazakhstan national football team.
İdman.Biz reports that the appointment of the 62-year-old coach will be formally approved after it is agreed with the Executive Committee of the Kazakhstan Football Federation.
The Executive Committee is expected to meet in the coming days, after which van ’t Schip will sign his contract.
During his playing career, van ’t Schip represented Ajax and Genoa. He was part of the Netherlands squad that won the European Championship in 1988.
As a coach, the Dutchman has managed Twente, Ajax, Melbourne Heart, Guadalajara, Melbourne City and PEC Zwolle, as well as the national teams of Greece and Armenia.
Van ’t Schip will replace Talgat Baysufinov, who has been in charge of Kazakhstan since September 2025.
