Kazakhstan president discusses opening Atletico Madrid academy with club chairman

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has held a meeting with Atletico Madrid chairman Enrique Cerezo Torres.

As reported by İdman.Biz, the talks focused on plans to open an academy of the renowned Spanish club in Kazakhstan. According to the Kazakh president’s press service, Cerezo Torres presented Tokayev with details of a project aimed at developing football in the country.

The initiative envisions the establishment of an Atletico Madrid academy at the Akbulak Olympic Center, located in the Talgar district of the Almaty region. The statement noted that President Tokayev highly praised the initiative and assured that the state would provide comprehensive support for the project as part of its efforts to promote football development in Kazakhstan.

Tokayev emphasized that football is a priority area for the country. He noted that around 40,000 children currently play football in schools and sports sections across Kazakhstan, while the country is also actively modernizing its sports infrastructure.

According to Cerezo Torres, Atletico Madrid academies operate successfully in many countries around the world. He emphasized that special attention is paid to coach education and the implementation of advanced training methodologies to help young talents fully realize their potential.
