Bayer Leverkusen captain Robert Andrich has revealed that he personally asked Florian Wirtz not to continue his career at Bayern Munich.
As reported by Idman.Biz, citing Bayern & Germany, the midfielder said that he discussed the issue directly with Wirtz and did not hide his position. Andrich explained that while it is important for the Bundesliga to keep top German players in the league, at the highest level there is effectively only one option in Germany for footballers of such caliber, Bayern.
For this reason, Andrich believed it would be a better decision for Wirtz to continue his career outside the country. He added that he also communicated this viewpoint to representatives of Bayern, making it clear that he would prefer to see the young star join a foreign club.
Andrich admitted that he did not expect Wirtz to make a decision so early, but said he was satisfied with the outcome, as the midfielder ultimately chose Liverpool.
