Former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has stated that he is ready to return to the club in a coaching role.
According to İdman.Biz, citing the BBC, Rooney stressed that he would accept a position on the coaching staff without hesitation if Michael Carrick were appointed as head coach. Following the departure of Ruben Amorim, Carrick is reportedly among the main candidates for the vacant role.
Assessing the club’s current situation, Rooney pointed to Manchester United’s loss of its football identity. He noted that he is not asking for a job for himself, but believes it is important to involve people who know the club’s history and inner culture in its management.
After 21 rounds of the Premier League, Manchester United sit seventh in the table with 32 points.
